SAMSUNG UNVEILS A STYLISH, ULTRA-SLIM DIGITAL CAMERA

Samsung Electronics Philippines, Corp (SEPCO) announced its new ultra-slim digital camera, perfect for consumers who want a stylish, on-the-go camera for parties, family gatherings and other special moments. At just 0.65 inches thin, the 12.2 megapixel ST60 is equipped with a 2.7-inch LCD and a 4x optical zoom.

“Consumers want portability in a point and shoot, and we think our ST60 addresses that desire,” according to Ms. Candy Quinto-Delos Santos, SEPCO, Digital Imaging Product Manager. “Despite their size, the ST60 is feature-packed and ideal for beginner and advanced photographers who want a well-equipped but easy to use, compact camera.”

Improved Optics
Samsung’s new model features improved 27.5mm wide-angle lens when compared to its predecessor, the ST50. Furthermore, the ST60 offers an expanded 4x optical zoom and features Digital Image Stabilization.

Creative Effects Add to the User Experience
New image effects available with ST60, such as Fisheye and Lomo, lets consumers easily add a touch of creativity to their photos. Similar to other Samsung compact cameras, this new ultra-slim camera offers a long list of user-selectable Photo Styles, which includes: Normal, Soft, Vivid, Forest, Retro, Cool, Calm, Classic, Negative, Custom RGB and two new options: Sketch and DeFog Clear/Fog Lifting. The DeFog Clear/Fog Lifting option cuts through the haze to take clear photos. In effect, these options allow consumers to save their memories through pictures that have enhanced color and detail to suit the mood and situation of every moment.

HD Video Recording
The ST60 puts high-definition video recording at the palm of users’ hands, thanks to the ability to record video at a resolution of 720p / 30fps, using H.264 compression. Additionally, to further simplify users’ ability to record the best video possible, this camera offers Samsung’s advanced scene recognition technology and Smart Auto (Still & Movie). Smart Auto has been upgraded from the ST50 as it can now be used with video as well as with still images. Similar to the way the technology analyzes the composition of an image when capturing digital stills, the technology will do the same for video,

automatically choosing between one of four pre-programmed settings and selecting the setting that will yield the best footage with proper exposure and color balance.

Additional Control
Consumers who want more control over their picture-taking can opt to use the Program mode or choose from a long list of Scene modes. Program mode allows the user to manually set options including ISO, white balance, metering mode, AF, and exposure compensation. Choosing a scene mode that best matches the shooting environment also provides users with extra control without requiring much effort, since the camera automatically adjusts the settings for the selected mode. Available scene modes include Beauty Shot, Night, Frame Guide, Portrait, Children, Landscape, Close-up, Text, Sunset, Dawn Backlight, Beach & Snow, and Fireworks. All this allows the ST60 efficiency and swiftness in adapting to any picture-taking situation, to capture any moment in sharp and clear detail, without sacrificing creativity.

Photoshop is probably one of the best things to happen in the computer world. Thanks to Photoshop, we can now enjoy seeing ourselves blemish-free in photographs, add creative elements to otherwise bland photos, and if you want to earn some money from amateur photography, you can also use Photoshop for faking Lomo effects with your digital photos.

Beginner’s Guide to Using Photoshop for Creating Lomo Effects :  If you’re not familiar with the ins and outs of Photoshop, here’s a simple step-by-step guide for creating Lomo effects with your digitally captured photos.

Step 1 Choose a photo.
Just go to File then click on Open and from there, you can browse your photos. Once you’ve found the photo you’d like to create a Lomo effect for, double-click on the photo to have it opened.

Step 2 Add contrast.
Contrast is an important element with Lomo photos and that’s the first thing you’ll change about your photo. Click on Images in the toolbar. There, you’ll se Brightness or Contrast. Click that and change the level of contrast by twenty.

Step 3 Change level of saturation.
Color saturation is yet another critical feature of Lomo photos. You’ll find this under Image tools, too. Click on Saturation or Hue then increase by twenty as well.

Step 4 Blend and duplicate layers.
Layers are one of the most important features of Photoshop. With layers, you can add depth to your photos and that’s exactly what you’ll do now. Pull out the Layers toolbar then click on Overlay so that you can start blending the edges of your photograph. Afterwards, click on Duplicate to achieve twice the effect.

Get Edgy with Lomography
Now, if you’re after a literally edgier look – fancy having darker and distorted edges for your photos? – then here’s what you have to do.

Step 1 Avoid hard edges.
We don’t want it crisp. That won’t work with Lomo photos. To get smooth but distorted edges for your photo, set Feather to about a twelfth of your image then use the rectangular marquee tool to select the entire image. Right click then select Inverse.

Step 2 Use new layers.
Create a new layer, fill it solidly with black, and merge or blend the layer with the photo.

There are many other Lomo effects you can fake or create using Photoshop. Naturally, not all of them would be easy to achieve but constant practice is sure to help you achieve your goals.
