China to require Computers with software to block blogs and websites

According to news, China’s government wants all computers sold in the country from July 1 to be automatically loaded with software that blocks certain websites, much like a firewall protected network.

The China Governements main reason was to avoid pornography and harmful content.  According to Journal – The name of the software that would block access to banned websites is  “Green Dam-Youth Escort”. 

The Beijing based Jinhui Computer system Engineering Co. developed the software in partnership with Beijing Dazheng Human Language Technology Academy Co.

It has been reported that the policy issued by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology last May 19 has not yet been officially publicized.
